Abstract Informal abstract [from e-mail exchanges two months ago]: If everything goes as planned, at the end of March, LIGO and Virgo will be on the verge of a one-year-long joint data taking period. With all the upgrades done since August 2017 (the end of the previous run) and the related improvements in terms of sensitivity and duty cycle, (much) more detections are to be expected. We will also make one step further towards open data as all our alerts will be public. After a brief review of what we have achieved so far, I could talk about all these challenges and how we are tackling them, before concluding about the future of the two collaborations: 2020 and beyond.
